Sean E. Garcia, MD, FHM, is currently a Professor/Clinical of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. He is medical director of Pride Clinic, a student-faculty collaborative clinic in which nursing students and medical students care for the LGBTQ+ population. In the inpatient setting, he has worked to promote a model for patient care, collaborative care, in which all members of the medical team round with the patients at the same time. In this interprofessional model, medical students learn about the contributions of various health professionals in the care of patients and also witness the value of teamwork.

This effort is best demonstrated through our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Linking Interprofessional Networks for Collaboration (LINC). The QEP involves all schools (dentistry, graduate biomedical sciences, health professions, medicine, and nursing) and is required for institutional accreditation.
