Ane Johannessen is Head of the Centre for Interprofessional Work-Place Learning (TVEPS) at the University of Bergen and the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, and associate professor at the Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care, University of Bergen. Research interests include interprofessional team-based learning and the overall value of practice in health education from the perspectives of both students, health personnel and patients.

Background Most universities and university colleges provide interprofessional (IP) courses for their students, and many countries have regulations requiring higher educational institutions to provide IP courses. While described learning outcomes are often similar across the institutions, the course design varies considerably from site to site. The Centre for interprofessional work-place learning (TVEPS) in Bergen, Norway, offers interprofessional workplace learning for students from health and social welfare professions from the University of Bergen and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. TVEPS practice will now be compulsory for all health and social welfare professions students in Bergen �" expanding from 200 to 1000 students pr year.   In TVEPS we send interprofessional student groups with 4-5 students, one from each profession, to practice arenas in Bergen and surrounding municipalities.
