Barbara Head, PhD, CHPN, ACSW, APHSW-C, FPCN is a professor at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and Co-Investigator of the iPEX grant. Her research interests include interprofessional education, financial issues of cancer survivors, and workforce issues in palliative care. Recently, she was Principal Investigator on a grant to develop an advanced certification for hospice and palliative social workers and she is currently a co-principle investigator on a NCI grant to assist faculty teams in the development of interprofessional education in palliative care. She has over 35 years of experience in palliative care including clinical positions, education, and research.

The Interprofessional Educational Exchange (iPEX): Meeting the Need for Interprofessional Education in Palliative Care
The Interprofessional Education Exchange (iPEX) project provides training and mentoring in the development of interprofessional palliative education in oncology to select faculty teams from institutions across the nation. Eight teams are selected annually based on a competitive application process. Each team must have representatives from at least three disciplines. Disciplines represented have included chaplaincy, medicine, music therapy, nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, and social work.
