Brooke Burk, PhD is an Associate Professor in Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services, and the Director for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Her areas of research interest include disparities in access to leisure and quality of life among underserved populations. She is also the co-Director for Rec N' Read Programs and Services, an interprofessional research and education program for undergraduate and graduate students.

Camp Maverick: Rec N’ Read is a collaborative, interprofessional practice in which multiple health and educational disciplines work together to provide recreation and literacy support to youth regardless of socioeconomic status or disability across a variety of clinical service models. This is a full day, summer camp designed to increase literacy skills in elementary-aged youth through literacy and recreation activities.
