Connie Swenty is an associate professor at the University of Southern Indiana. She served as director of a $1.2 HRSA grant focusing on interprofessional clinical experiences and placed student teams in Community Health Centers and VA clinics. She managed faculty roles, collaborated with staff members, and facilitated student team involvement in the clinics. In addition, she teaches graduate and undergraduate nursing courses. Connie received her Master of Science in Nursing from Clarkson College, Omaha, NE and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, IN. Her interest areas include nursing education, interprofessional education, and wound/ostomy care.
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
Collaboration between nursing and business faculty, clinical practice staff, and a graduate business student led to the formation of a business model for primary care (PC). This model demonstrates that optimizing practice in the interprofessional clinical learning environment has a direct positive impact on patient care.
