Florence Weierbach, PhD, MSN, MPH, RN

Dr. Weierbach has over 30 years of nursing experience with expertise in community-based nursing. She has worked in interprofessional teams in home, clinic and hospital settings, coordinating care across the care continuum. As project director for a 2-year HRSA funded grant, Appalachia Senior- level Community-based Experiences in Northeast Tennessee (ASCENT), she placed undergraduate students in nurse-managed clinics. Dissemination from the ASCENT grant include publications and conference presentations. She has experience teaching on-line, clinical and classroom environments. She developed an on-line course focusing on health care collaborative practice and participated in classroom IPE.

Health care professionals’ education is available using technology that allows learning to occur virtually. In the online environment, learners may not live in the same location, which is challenging for interprofessional education. As an academic health science center that includes five colleges, three of our colleges offer graduate and undergraduate programs 100% online.
