Dr. Jonel Thaller, PhD, MSW is an Associate Professor of Social Work at Ball State University and a graduate of Arizona State University. Her primary research focus has been the prevention of intimate partner violence and reproductive/sexual exploitation with an understanding of common developmental tasks and the identity-based narratives that guide them. In her practice, she has worked with both survivors and perpetrators of intimate partner violence as well as pregnant and postpartum women in recovery from substance addiction. At the University, she teaches courses in introductory social work, research, and human behavior in the social environment (HBSE).

This Lightning Talk session will focus on the process and benefits of establishing a university-community partnership to address the opioid epidemic. The Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education Center and the Ball State University College of Health, in collaboration, hosted the Delaware County Substance Use Disorder Symposium.
