Kellee Harper-Hanigan, PT, DPT, CHSE, WCC, Assistant Professor, is Associate Program Director of the developing Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Lincoln Memorial University. Dr. Hanigan worked in outpatient orthopedics, acute care, and wound care while teaching within the DPT program at Indiana State University (ISU). While at ISU, she served as a member of the Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education Center TEACH team. She became a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator through the Society of Simulation in Healthcare and has researched the impact of interprofessional healthcare simulations on clinical performance of first year physical therapy students.

Research and practice wisdom demonstrate that health outcomes require more than simply prescribing the right medication for a disease. A wide variety of patient, family, caregiver, and community factors ranging from medication costs to high risk home situations may hinder desired outcomes and even lead to premature death. A pilot project was developed by health professions faculty from two schools to teach social determinants of health outcomes.
