Kristy Johnston, MSW, is the director for the Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research program at KU Medical Center. She is responsible for leading the Interprofessional Education program planning teams, driving the strategic goals and managing overall program budget and structure. Johnston works collaboratively with the interprofessional education and simulation teams and executive leaders to drive the strategic vision for the program._x000D_ Prior to taking on her role in the Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research, Johnston spent 13 years as the Vice President of Children's Hospital Knowledge Exchange, a learning collaborative for Children's Hospital Association.

Since the release of the IPEC competencies in 2011 (IPEC, 2011 and 2016), the addition of interprofessional education to many health professions education programs requirements (Vlasses & Zorek, 2016), and the recommendations of the Joint Accreditors Collaborative in 2019, there has been an increase in the integration of interprofessional curriculum and experiences (Greer et al, 2014; Congdon, 2016).
