Lauren Mays is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She is an Instructor and the Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty Track-Co-Coordinator at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. Her focus is on providing primary care for rural, underserved, and vulnerable populations. She has 10 years of clinical experience as an FNP and has a faculty practice at The Wellhouse where she provides primary care to survivors of sex trafficking. Her experience in interprofessional (IP) education includes facilitating the design, implementation, and evaluation of IP curriculum.

BackgroundEducation across health professions, rather than in silos, is essential to preparing future healthcare providers for team-based healthcare.
