Megan Reutter, DHSC, is a dental hygienist in private practice and an adjunct faculty member at Parkland College. Megan recently completed her Doctorate degree at A.T. Still University. She aspires to teach online courses and advance to administrative duties. Her passion is educating students and other health professionals on the oral-systemic link. To pursue her interest in interprofessional collaboration, she coordinated a simulation activity between dental hygiene and nursing students to provide oral care on an intubated patient. Megan lives in rural Illinois with her husband, Landon, and their daughter, Charlotte.

Background: Emerging models of care highlight the importance of interprofessional collaboration (IPC) and research demonstrates the bidirectional relationship between oral health and systemic disease.
