Meredith Baker-Rush PhD CCC-SLP, CHSE, FNAP is an Assistant Professor at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in the Chicago Medical School and the College of Health Professions. She is Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice, Co-Chair of the Illinois Speech Language Hearing Association’s (ISHA) Medical Practice Committee and an ISHA Ethics committee member. She holds a doctorate in psychology, with a concentration in health psychology, which compliments her work on medical speech specializing in geriatric medicine, neurology, complex and critically ill and education.

Students matriculate into Physician Assistant (PA) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs with varied healthcare experience, resulting in the differing levels of confidence during didactic and clinical year phases. A tiered didactic and simulation-based learning opportunity for PA and DPT students was developed with the aim of increasing student confidence around inpatient lines, tubes, and drains and collaboration among disciplines. In turn, the increase in confidence may imply benefits of interprofessional multimodality content delivery between these health professions.
