Monica Sampson, PhD, CCC-SLP, is the director of health care services in speech-language pathology at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). As a certified speech-language pathologist (SLP), Dr. Sampson has had a diverse career spanning clinical service delivery, research, academia and health policy. At ASHA, she has made it a strategic priority for her team to train medical SLPs to improve patient outcomes via interprofessional practice and person-centered care. Dr. Sampson also serves as a key stakeholder in IPP technical expert panels that work collaboratively to impact federal policy as it relates to standardization of care in the post-acute care settings.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is implementing multi-year efforts to advance IPECP among its members (i.e., audiologists and speech-language pathologists), including defining what it is and how to implement it and elucidating their role on teams.
