Dr. Jimenez serves as Associate Dean of Interprofessional Education and Simulation at Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) located in Harrogate and Knoxville, Tennessee. She is responsible for administrative and operational oversight of the Center for Interprofessional Education and Simulation. Together with her dynamic team, she supports clinical assessment activities in undergraduate, graduate, and interprofessional education including but not limited to collaboration with medical, nursing and allied health programs. Dr. Jimenez is Vice Chair of the Tennessee Interprofessional Practice and Education Consortium (TIPEC) and a fellow of the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators (NAOME).

Research and practice wisdom demonstrate that health outcomes require more than simply prescribing the right medication for a disease. A wide variety of patient, family, caregiver, and community factors ranging from medication costs to high risk home situations may hinder desired outcomes and even lead to premature death. A pilot project was developed by health professions faculty from two schools to teach social determinants of health outcomes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine’s 3rd Opioid Education Symposium, focusing on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), was converted to an online format including a pre-event interprofessional networking activity for students. The ultimate goal of the symposium was to provide a vehicle for students and community members to explore multiple perspectives on the impact of ACEs on the opioid crisis.
