Dr. Tamarie Macon is the Director of Community Initiatives at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC), as well as assistant professor in the UNC Gillings School’s Master of Public Health Program in Asheville. As a faculty member at UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC, Dr. Macon instructs and mentors students in the MPH Program, supports the development and evaluation of community-based health initiatives across Western North Carolina, and facilitates public health research in collaboration with community and institutional partners.

In response to experiential rotation disruptions caused by "stay at home" orders related to COVID 19, an interprofessional team of faculty representing medicine, pharmacy, public health and clinical administration came together and quickly designed and launched an interprofessional rotation. This interprofessional rotation offered participants the opportunity to engage in local and regional preparedness and healthcare delivery elements for COVID-19.
