Dr. Gwin has been in healthcare as an RN and APRN for 43 years. Her 18 years in academia has been focused on development of_x000D_ interprofessional education in curriculum for undergraduate and graduate nursing using innovation in teaching. She is also focused on expanding knowledge of nursing into areas outside of acute care nursing and developing roles for FNPs in caring for those complex care patients that live with many barriers to mainstream healthcare. Her active care background ranges from critical care nursing to home health, hospice, and palliative care as well as oncology and primary care.

Samuel Merritt University has been a national hub for the Camden Coalition Student Hotspotting program since 2015. During thattime, while student interest is high in participating in the Hotspotting program, volunteer recruitment that represents interprofessionalteams has been difficult to obtain. In 2018, a internal grant was obtained to pilot implementation into one course in the school ofnursing as part of the course IPE assignments.
