Andrea Zakrajsek is a Professor in the School of Health Sciences at Eastern Michigan University. Her research and teaching interests include preparing future health professionals, including occupational therapists, to support older adults and people with disabilities in health and meaningful participation. In 2018, she was inducted as a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice for her work.

In order to address the social, biological and psychological risks to older adults aging in place, a multidisciplinary approach to support successful aging is needed. Furthermore, students in various disciplinary programs can develop knowledge and skills to address the needs of older adults that cross professional silos.
